If you were among top ten richest people in the world, what would you do? These ten people certainly knew what to do, since their wealth kept growing and led them to the Forbes list of the world’s ten wealthiest men:

1.Carlos Slim Helu , age 70, from Mexico – self made telecom tycoon who also invested in energy and roads, has stakes in New York Times, Independent News & Media, Saks, Inbrusa and Bronco Drilling.

2. William Gates III, age 54, from USA – another self made billionaire; main source of his wealth is Microsoft, but there are others as well (Four Seasons Hotels, Auto Nation, Televisa etc). In 2008 he stopped working ‘full-time’ for Microsoft, and devoted more time and money to humanitarian organizations. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (founded in 2000) has a big role in scientific research and humanitarian activities.

3.Warren Edward Buffett, age 79, from USA – sources are Berkshire Hathaway, Geico (Insurance), MidAmerican Energy (Utilities), Diary Queen (Food), but also started investments in green tchnologies. He was among Time’s list of 100 Most Influential People in the world in 2007.

4.Mukesh Ambani, age 52, from India – main sources are oil and gas. Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited and the richest man in Asia.

5.Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, age 59, from India – steel magnate, Chairman of ArcelorMittal. His US$128 million home in London is the world’s most expensive house at present.

6.Lawrence Joseph Ellison, age 65, from USA – co-founder of Oracle Corporation.

7.Bernard Arnault, age 61, from France – major shareholder of LVMH Group.

8.Eike Fuhrken Batista, age 53, from Brazil – sources: mining and oil.

9.Amancio Ortega Gaona, age 74, from Spain – Zara.

10.Karl Albrecht, age 90, from Germany – the owner of Aldi Sud, which is European supermarket giant, but his business spreads to other continents (USA and Australia)
