Smallest Baby in the World

A baby boy from Germany, who is born prematurely, at his 25th week, is the smallest baby in the world. To be more accurate, he is the smallest baby boy, since there is a baby girl that was even smaller at her birth.

The difference in length between these two babies is only 3 centimeters. The girl’s name is Amilia Taylor, born at her 22nd week in October 2006 in Miami. She spent nearly four months in hospital, and after that time she was released home.

Little German boy weighted about 270 grams, and was only 27 centimeters long. But after some time in hospital, under medical care and attention, this baby is now just as any other baby, healthy and no different in any way – the only thing that makes him different is his incredible story!

Maybe some day he will tell his friends this curiosity about himself, remembering that he was famous in some way, but at the time when it was all happening, things were rather serious.

This baby was born during his 25th week, and we all know that abortion limits are very close to this time – for example, this limit in Great Britain is 24th week. His mother actually saved his life – she suddenly felt like the baby’s life is endangered and rushed to a hospital, where she had a cesarean section.

But before that, his parents spoke to the doctor about whether to do it at all. They were considering the chances and decided to do it anyway. So the story got its happy end, but the odds were not much promising. It took a lot of courage and hope, both mother’s and the doctor’s, who still call it ‘a miracle’. And the miracle it was. Cause today he is just as any other boy.
